Everybody knows Santorini as No1 touristic destination and one of the most beautiful Islands in the world. The blue-dome churches, the whitewashed houses- they basically represent Greece everywhere you look. And naturally with all this fame, more than 4 million people visit our lovely Island every year.

But the whole goal of Santorini-travel is simple: to show you Santorini from a different angle, the real one, the local one, the one that actually feels like Santorini, because the real beauty is found in simplicity. When the high-season ends around late-October the Island finally rests. And thats exactly when the real magic begins.

When Santorini Breathes
Off-season Santorini is truly a gem. Pure, quiet, authentic. All the villages feel traditional again, the famous blue-dome churches pictures are all yours and the Island slows down in a way that lets you actually connect with it.

Picture this: You wake up in Santorini, Greece on the 16th of November. You walk to the cliffside- the caldera -to catch the sunrise. No noise, no rush, just you and the views. Then you hear the church bells and you remember that it’s Sunday so you step inside a small church where locals are having the Sunday service. Peace. Then brunch in a traditional village, wandering through quiet paths. It’s not only relaxing your body and mind…it’s your soul taking a vacation. The energy is different. Softer. Stronger. Love is in the air. Even the coffee hits differently when you ‘re staring at the volcanic Islands of Santorini.

Driving around feels effortless. Black sand beaches, the mountain of Prophet Elias with it’s monastery, small villages you barely notice in Summer, everything feels more real and you are more aware.

Local Living, Real Moments
You walk around in the morning saying “kalimera”(good morning) to locals. It becomes automatic. Yes summer is more “alive” but it depends on what you’re after.

From November to April many businesses close but it depends on each ones preferences. For these specific months for example it is not the right destination for someone who wants to visit Santorini with only intention the shopping experience. Many people think that Santorini is “closing” and only locals stay here, but that’s not true. Hotels, Airbnbs, restaurants, cafés remain open for travellers who want to experience the Island differently. Plus we have an international airport – winter doesn’t stop Santorini.
Maybe the Best Time to Visit
The “high-season” keeps stretching because more and more people realise that November or March/April might actually be the best time to come. Fewer cruise ships as well and you might experience Santorini the way it truly is.
